UofH November 4th
Charlie McGill
UofH Psych Internship 11/4/2019
This was the first week of work on the psychology paper! I can't give out too many details on what we're working on, but the main point of the paper is to test the reliability and validity of a measurement. In psychology, researchers don't just assume that their measurements will work; they test and collect data to make sure a measurement is actually performing the task it is supposed to. For example, if a new measurement is created on self-esteem then researchers will make sure that the measurement is actually measuring what it's supposed to through papers like the one I'm working on. I learned how to do a literature review this week, since that's a big part of my job for this paper. Next week I'll be learning more on reliability and validity.
Now although work on the psychology paper has started, my old work hasn't fallen by the wayside. I'll still be doing data entry and data checking along with my work on the psych paper. Since each set of data needs to be entered twice, sometimes there are mistakes and the two entries of data have differences. I worked on fixing that today, and checked three sets of data to make sure that they had accurate and equal data.
Overall this was a really great week, so great that I was late to leave because I lost track of time. I'm looking forward to my future work with my internship.
